6. Protect your skin
Tomato eating studies have shown that it can reduce UV skin damage and decrease the risk of sunburn. Researchers think it may be because of the high carotenoid content of tomatoes (one of which is the superstar lycopene).
Of course, it doesn’t mean you can’t forget the sunscreen at the beach just because last night was a Caprese salad. If you are in the sun, continue to wear a broad-speed SPF of at least 30 and consider that additional tomato protection is an advantage.
