The logic behind this is that when you eat smaller meals, your digestion is faster and you get more energy in a shorter period of time. However, if the amount of energy produced by the body will be determined by the type of food you are eating and the quantity of it but not the number of meals. If a person eats 6 meals a day worth 200 calories and a second person eats 3 meals worth 200 calories, they both will get the same amount of energy provided the food is the same.
