The Black Forest Cake is an incredibly delicious dessert. Now it probably looks super impossible to bake from gazing at it. But this classic recipe is pretty straightforward. It consists of multiple layers, sandwiched with whipped cream and cherries, of a dark chocolate sponge cake. For every reason, it makes a great dessert.

Classic Black Forest Cake
  • 2 oz all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 (20 ounces) cans pitted sour cherries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ⅓ cup confectioners’ sugar
