Adults aged 50 and older who ate only a small amount of flavonoid-rich foods like berries, apples, and tea were found to be 2 to 4 times more likely than those who ate more flavonoid-rich foods to develop Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia over a 20-year period.
Quercetin, a flavonoid found in apples, protects neurons from oxidative stress and has anti-disease Alzheimer’s properties.
