We all know by now that we should be eating at least five portions of fruits and vegetables every day. But knowing and doing two different things is not it? Sometimes it’s not easy to put them all in there. We constantly tend to fill in on convenience and fast food. If yours is like mine, they would rather fill a bag of potato chips or a bowl of rice or pasta than try an apple or a plate of steamed broccoli. So we have to be creative. Here are some ideas to “sneak” some additional vegetables and fruits in your family’s diet.
1. Fruit Juice
Start today with breakfast juice. All you have to do is toss some fruit, low-fat yogurt, and ice into the blender. You may also want to add a scoop of protein powder in there for a good measure. Just mix it for a few seconds and you will have the perfect breakfast ready. I like to drink mine in a thermal mug on my way to work. To make it more attractive to your kids, use some frozen yogurt or a spoonful of ice cream in the smoothie. They won’t believe you let them have ice cream for breakfast.
